Reflection
This final project was definitely a challenge. Working with Okeka took me a lot of time to figure out. While to design is not something I love, I do think it is better than what it originally was. My biggest problem was formatting everything. Moving stuff to either be part of the exhibit or part of my Omeka site took me a while to figure out. I also do not understand a ton of how my Okeka site works but I do believe I have everything and it is relatively easy to follow. I have it so everything that pertains to my exhibit is in the navigation which I believe will make it easy to find and follow. Once you hover over the exhibit menu, a dropdown menu opens up with all the information that is part of my exhibit.
The research was not super hard as it I really enjoyed researching my topic. Finding all these old images was really fun. My favorite part of the research was finding events that happened in places that I already know of. For example one of the mines was in Fairmont which is only half an hour away from Morgantown. I also really enjoyed the timeline and story map. While they both took time to do and complete research, the final product makes it worth it. While I believe my exhibit as a whole could look better, I do not know how. What I have is the extent of my knowledge. This class as a whole was a hard class for me as I am bad at coding, technology, ect. I am proud of how my exhibit looks but I wish I knew more to make it look even better.
